Lots of people has asked me how do I make mesos so I'm going to attempt and write up a guide for merchanting.
The only real thing you need, is determination and patience. You need to try, work, for your mesos. If you aren't willing to spend an hr checking fm for prices, then don't bother trying to get rich.
Many people always asks me for price checks and I find this pretty annoying. They always say its impossible to price check everything but its not true. You simply have to go through fm shops, see whats sold for what price, and if the majority of the scrolls is sold for say 5-7m, then you'll know that the price check is roughly 6m~ You just need to constantly check up on fm, and as I said, if you aren't going to work for your mesos, then you shouldn't complain you are poor. The golden rule is: If you aren't sure its price, put 2.1bil and Look for offers lol. Don't risk selling things underpriced.
Another thing about merchanting is that people think you need 1bil + to get started. You really only need 20mil orso, but ofc, the more the better, but that doesn't mean 10mil isnt enough. You just have a less variety of things to merchant, if you only have 20mil, go for cheap scrolls, like cape dex / shoe jump. Just buy them in around about 500k less than you think you can sell.
The best way imo, to making money, is to make use of patches / events. This means you need to keep up to date with maple updates all the time. Event items that are only here for a small period of time rises in price by quite alot after a few months. This can provide in a big profit ratio. Like leaf pots, can be bought for 50k each during the event, and sell for 250k each later on, thats a x5 profit. And the rings / red shower event we just had, rings dropped to 5m each and red showers as low as 2m each. In a few motnhs, i estimate that rings should be 15m+ and red showers could be 10m+, which is a x3, x5 profit rate. The only disadvantage with this style of making money, than the usual scroll merchanting, is that you need patience. Waiting for items to rise in price isnt fun, and for some items, it can take as long as 9 months till they hit peak price. I would say that you should use at most 40% of your total money for investing in a merchant that involves waiting. The key to merchanting is to keep your money flowing, so you can constantly buy new items, which means profiting. If you ain't buying things, you ain't profiting.
An FM spot is very important, You should obviously try for fm1 spot, after a server check /patch, but if you cant, anything from fm1-6, fm13 is good. If you have a very good fm spot, merchanting becomes easy as 1,2,3. In fm1, you can naturally sell your scrolls for more than other fm spots. When i have a fm1 spot, I just go to the other fm's, and buy their scrolls out for "normal" price, and put them 500k more in fm1, which sells quite easily.
If you do all that, your bound to make a profit, as long as you dont SCROLL. Sometimes you are tempted to scroll an item and your thinking "if I pass this 30%, i can make 100m profit", Yes its true, but the likely outcome is that you lose money. I'm not telling you NOT to scroll, but if you never scroll, you can only profit. If you scroll, you can go either way, and I like sticking to the safe way more. I only scroll items that I need, and I can't find in fm, or I think its overpriced.
There is only 1 occasion when I think scrolling is profitable. It depends on the prices / chances you have. At one point in fm, the price of a glv atk 10% scroll was 1.5m, and a 3 atk 4 slot wg was 20mil. This leads to a natural profit if you scrolled glv atk 10%'s non stop, as on average, it takes 10 to work 1 scroll. Which means on average, it costs 15m to make a 3 atk 4 slot wg, but you can sell it for 20m, making an average of 5m profit per 10 scrolls. When you see something like this, its time to scroll lol.
So to summarize the guide, Simply buy cheap, sell for more. Fm spot is very important, have patience, and try to avoid scrolling too much. ~
